Staff Geotechnical Engineer

Stevenson Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mississippi office. This position is for an Engineer-In-Training performing assignments under the direction of a Professional Engineer and offers an excellent opportunity for growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering reports, including the evaluation of collected field and laboratory results, preparation of figures and drawings, to document contractor’s work methods, test results, and the interpretation of these tests
  • Provide field oversight for special inspections during construction related to subgrade inspection, controlled fill, in-place density testing, foundation installation (driven/drilled piles), reinforced steel placement, steel inspection, bolting inspection
  • Work closely with senior-level project manager and professional engineer to gain project management and engineering experience
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects
  • Prepare proposals and reports for approval by senior level professionals
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management
  • Perform various field and laboratory tests on soils, concrete, and aggregate materials
  • Assist with technician training, as needed
  • Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians
  • Develop solutions, makes recommendations, and prepare engineering reports for review
  • Develop plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project
  • Interact with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress
  • Perform other tasks, as assigned by the supervisor

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) required
  • Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, and ability to learn and adopt new engineering software
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings and procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, if needed
