The new Wheaton High School is a 330,200-sf, 3-story facility servicing 1,700 students. The school offers a broad curriculum, which includes four signature academies: engineering; bioscience + health; The Institute for Global and Cultural Studies; and information technology.

The new school is heavily focused on project-based learning and extending the classrooms to the community through job shadowing, speakers, internships, partnerships with local universities, and credit-bearing college courses.

The Thomas Edison High School of Technology, completed in 2018, is the 101,430-sf career and technology education center for MCPS. Providing programs in automotive trades, construction trades, restaurant management, and cosmetology; students focus on experiential learning, and developing interpersonal and technology skills.
